Sales at IVE were down by 3.2 per cent to $340.8m while EBITDA rose by 18.5 per cent to $59.2m. Net profit after tax rose to $23.8m from $12.4m. Revenue included $53.8m from Letterbox Distribution, which went some way to making up shortfalls in other areas.

Second biggest story in print this week was the Print21 report on major expansion at well-known and long-established operator Martin O’Brien Formes.

The company is moving into a new 2800sqm factory in Braeside, and is looking at investing a million dollars over the next three years in upgrading its production technology.

Coming in at number three, and also from Melbourne, was the Print21 report on The Print Department, the digital print operator owned by Anthony and Diana Pezzano, which took out the Best of the Best award at the Asia Pacific Fuji Xerox Innovation Print Awards for a digital print guide produced on its Fuji Xerox Iridesse.

The Innovation Print Awards is the new name for Pixi Awards, which have been running for 12 years. This year saw 27 winning entries. The annual competition honours the most outstanding and innovative users of Fuji Xerox graphics communications solutions across the region with entries from Australia, China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
