Frederik leads Agfa into the future

It's the dawn of a new age for Agfa as Frederik Dehing takes over as president of the Oceania regional operation.

"I am delighted to be working with a well-known and highly motivated team," he said of the appointment. "Agfa has enormous brand recognition in this part of the world and a market position that most would be envious of."

Dehing commences the role in December, but he is no stranger to the company. First joining Agfa in 2000, Dehing, who has a background in corporate banking, worked his way up to become head of Agfa's finance and administration team, along with becoming a key member of Agfa Graphics Executive Committee, where he was responsible for the high level operation of the company.

Making the move to both Australia and president might sound like a daunting prospect, but the idea was not overwhelming for Dehing. "I knew it was the right thing to do," he said assuredly.

"I'm still young and Agfa believes that all senior management need to have wide experience and marketing experience. I have not been greatly involved in sales and marketing before so this position will give me an opportunity to explore that further."

He has big shoes to fill, taking over from general manager, John Shore (see the People section), but even Shore himself reckons that Dehing is the best man for the job.

"The last five years of our business have been about refining our mergers and acquisitions, fitting into today's marketplace," said Shore. "That's been done now and it's time for a new set of eyes for the business. We can put the restructure and regrowth behind us and focus on the future. It's the right time for someone like Frederik to come in."
