Melbourne Move One: Currie transforms power surge for new PressPrint premises
Too much electric power to the company’s new building would have toasted the HP Indigo.
Kevin Stevens, managing director of PressPrint says as the business continues to grow a bigger premises was necessary, despite the fact that this is its first 12 months in operation. “We are now in 212 square meters of warehouse and office space over two levels, so we have a lot of room to play with. We have everything we need right now, and can do it all in-house.”
PressPrint Solutions has begun a three-year tenancy 1.5km around the corner at its brand new premises in Unit 4, 34 Wirraway Drive, Fishermans Bend.
“There is always a certain degree of disruption in a move, things you cannot foresee. The logistical nightmare when you are moving is that you still have work coming in, production still has to happen, so we basically worked between the two sites.
The unforseen hiccup of the move was the high voltage power running into the building, which complicated the installation of the HP Indigo.
“The 3050 HP Indigo runs on a certain voltage, and our voltage was just too much. It was one of the things that HP didn’t foresee, neither did we, but it was all worked out fairly quickly with two technicians from Currie,” he said.
Marcus Robinson, national service manager at Currie Group says the mains power coming into the building was high, so “to prevent damage to the 3050 Indigo we decided to put a transformer in line to step down the power, to make it a constant safe voltage.”
