The strong US dollar cut into the profits of Australian packaging giant Amcor for the 12 months to June 30, with the company posting a 0.4% rise in net profit to $A947 million. Amcor said net profit actually jumped 7.2% when currency swings from a strengthening US dollar were excluded.

Packaging company Orora increased annual net profit by 25.9% despite ‘subdued’ conditions in major markets. The company, which was spun off from packaging giant Amcor in 2013, reported a net profit of $131.4 million, up from last year's $104.4m.
